The tiny community of Riverside Gardens is an island in a sea of pollution, surrounded on three sides by chemical and power plants, and a former Superfund dump site. For years residents have complained of high rates of life threatening diseases and dangerous conditions. High levels of methane gas have to be monitored if construction work occurs in the neighborhood. Residents feel trapped, and often are unable to move due to declining market value of their homes.
